In order to test our hypothesis we collected data through the distribution of anonymous surveys electronically and through physical documentations. Sources such as Facebook and other social media networks enabled our experiment to collect a broad range of selective responses. The Likert Scale and other self-report instruments were used to assess the relationship between parenting style and academic outcomes. The individuals studied were adolescents that ranged from the age of 14 to the age of 18. This targeted age group was selected due to the vulnerable state of the brain. During this growth period adolescents are more prone to being influenced through higher authority figures.
